Domestic Terrorism Disclaimer: Our sole intent is to is to educate, support, raise awareness to the overall community with respect to domestic terrorism here in the United States and overseas. One of our secondary missions is to support any and all other positive individuals and organizations that deal and address the issues of gangs and youth violence on a daily basis. One of the ways we do this is by adding that individuals full spoken words/information to our website to ensure their voices are heard across the world. It is further our practice to ensure that the individual and/or company we obtain the information from is identified. We apologize for any miscommunications that may occur from time to time as a result of some postings. Religious and political beliefs are NOT part of National CSI identity or purpose. Our professional staff have an eclectic mix of beliefs, political affiliation, and cultural diversity. Again, we apologize to any discomfort this may have brought you as it was not our intent. About Us: National CSI was established on March 1st, 1980 by four concerned and community based police officers from the Asbury Park and Neptune Township, New Jersey area who felt that gangs, school, community and youth violence was on the rise and that very little was being largely ignored by those in positions of leadership and change. They felt that these persons of leadership were in denial for a number of reasons. They felt that if that denial continued youth, schools, communities and businesses across the country would suffer. They recognized that the community, the military and school officials were the first to admit that a problem was developing and ask the question, "what can we do do to address the problem." Raising a child is one of the most gratifying jobs you'll ever have and one of the toughest. Try as you might to be the best parent, teacher, educator, youth worker you can, our complex world challenges you every day with disturbing issues that are difficult for children to understand and for parents to explain. But explain we must, or we miss a critical opportunity. Research shows that children, especially those between the ages of 8 and 12, want their parents to talk with them about today's toughest issues, (drugs, sex, music, gay rights, racism, smoking, boyfriend, girlfriend relations including gang violence. Even when they reach adolescence, they want to have a caring adult in their lives to talk about these issues. In fact, those who have early conversations are more likely to continue turning to their parents as they become teens and young adults. Violence in today's world in the media, in our communities and even in our schools can make our children feel frightened, unsafe and insecure. Kids are hearing about and often must cope with tough issues such as violence at increasingly earlier ages, often before they are ready to understand all the aspects of complicated situations. Yet, there is hope. Parents and other caring adults have a unique opportunity to talk with their children about these issues first, before everyone else does, but you must tell and teach them the truth, no matter what. Even in such complex times, parents have the ability to raise healthy, confident, secure children who know how to resolve conflicts peacefully and make smart decisions to protect themselves. Parents should talk with their children to help them learn correct information and to impart the values they want to instill. |
